Veritaza

How do I check a dating app match before meeting them in person?

Do a short video call, search the person's photos and name online, and check that their number and story stay the same. If everything matches, that is a good sign, but not proof.

Most matches are who they say they are. The checks take a few minutes and protect you from the few who are not, including people who use dates to rob or blackmail.

Veritaza can check the photos, the number, the name and bits of the messages for warning signs. It never shows the person's address or family.

Before the date

  1. Ask for a short video call.
  2. Do a reverse image search on two or three of their photos.
  3. Search their name or username with the word 'scam'.
  4. Check that the job, area and age they told you stay the same.
  5. Tell a friend where you are going and with whom.

Frequently asked questions

Is it rude to ask for a video call?
No. Many people do it before a first date. Someone who keeps refusing without a good reason is a warning sign.
