Veritaza

My online partner wants me to invest in their business. Is it safe?

Be very careful. Asking for business capital or a "joint investment" is a common next step in romance scams. Do not send money to anyone you have not met and checked.

Sometimes the request is not for an emergency but for an opportunity: a shop to open, stock to buy, a forex account where "we will both earn". It feels like building a future together.

The money goes to the scammer, and the "profits" shown in an app are not real.

Before you send anything

  1. Meet the person in real life first.
  2. Never invest through an app or link they send you.
  3. Check if the company is registered with URSB, and if an investment firm is licensed by the CMA.
  4. Talk to someone you trust about the plan.

Frequently asked questions

They showed me their profits. Is that proof?
No. Screenshots and dashboards can be faked. Profits you cannot withdraw are not profits.
