I was offered a job liking videos or rating products on WhatsApp. Is it real?
No. The "task" job pays you small amounts for liking videos or rating products to win your trust, then requires you to deposit your own money to unlock higher-paying tasks. The deposits are the scam; the withdrawals stop once you have paid in enough.
The group chat is full of people posting their "earnings", most of them part of the scam. The platform shows a growing balance that you can never withdraw without one more deposit. Losses in South Africa run from a few hundred rand to people's savings.
How to recognise it
- You were contacted out of the blue on WhatsApp, Telegram or by SMS.
- The work is meaningless: liking, rating, "optimising" products.
- You must deposit money to "upgrade" or "complete a task set".
- The balance on the app is not money until it is in your bank account.
- Stop at the first deposit request. Screenshot everything and report the numbers.
Frequently asked questions
- I already deposited and the app shows a big balance. Should I pay once more to withdraw?
- No. Every further payment is lost. Phone your bank and open a case with SAPS.
