A friend is asking me for money on WhatsApp from a new number. How do I know it's them?
Call the person on their old number or ask a question only they would know. Until you have spoken to them, do not send anything.
Scammers copy profile photos and names from WhatsApp and Facebook, then write to friends and family pretending to have lost their phone. The request is always urgent and the MoMo wallet is in another name.

How to check
- Call the friend's old number or someone close to them.
- Ask a personal question a stranger could not answer.
- Read the name on the MoMo confirmation screen.
- Do not let the urgency push you.
- Warn the friend that someone is using their name.
