Veritaza

I already sent money and now the person asks for more. What should I do?

Stop now and send nothing more, however good the reason sounds: a second request after a first payment is the clearest sign of a scam, and every further payment is lost too. Then contact GCash or your bank about the first transfer and report the scam.

After the first payment, scammers raise the stakes: the hospital bill was higher, the package needs another fee, the account needs a tax to unfreeze "your" money. They also use what you already paid as a reason to continue: "if you stop now, everything you sent is wasted". That is exactly backwards.

Step by step

  1. Do not send another peso, not even "the last one".
  2. Save the chats, the receipts and the account or number that received the money.
  3. Contact GCash through the Help Center, or your bank, and report the transaction as a scam.
  4. Report to the CICC hotline 1326, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group or the NBI Cybercrime Division.
  5. Check the person on Veritaza if you need confirmation for yourself or for family: stolen photos and copied messages make it easier to let go.

Frequently asked questions

The person says they will pay back everything once this last fee is paid. Is that possible?
No. There is no "last fee". The money will not come back from the scammer; it can only be chased through GCash, the bank and the authorities.
