Veritaza

The online job wants me to receive money and forward it. Is that a scam?

Yes. A job whose only task is receiving money into your GCash or bank account and sending it on, minus a commission, is a money mule scheme: the money comes from other victims, and your account is the one the bank and the police will see. Refuse, even if the first transfers looked real.

The jobs have titles like "payment agent", "finance assistant" or "crypto buyer". The employer is abroad and "cannot open a local account". The work is easy and the commission is good. Then your account is frozen, or a complaint arrives in your name, and the employer is gone.

What to do

  1. Decline any job where the work is moving money through your own account.
  2. If money already arrived, do not forward it. Contact GCash through the Help Center or your bank and explain.
  3. Keep the job ad, the chats and the transfer details.
  4. Report to the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group or the NBI if money moved.
  5. Check the "employer's" number, email and name on Veritaza: these jobs are run by fake profiles.

Frequently asked questions

I already forwarded money twice and got my commission. Am I in trouble?
Stop now, keep all records and contact GCash or your bank yourself. Explaining early is far better than being found later.
