My phone suddenly has no network and my mobile money is gone. Was my SIM card swapped?

It may be a SIM swap: someone got a new SIM card with your number and now receives your codes. Call your provider from another phone straight away to block the line and the mobile money account.

In a SIM swap, the scammer uses your personal details to get a replacement SIM. With your number they can reset your mobile money PIN and other accounts.

What to do now

  1. Call your mobile network from another phone and ask them to block the SIM.
  2. Ask them to freeze your mobile money account.
  3. Call your bank if your number is linked to your bank account.
  4. Report it at the police station and keep the RB number.
  5. You can also report SIM fraud to the TCRA.

How did they get my details?
