Veritaza

I got a message saying I won a promo or lottery. Is it real?

If you have to pay anything to receive a prize, it is a scam. Real promotions do not ask winners for a fee, a code or a PIN.

Promo scams use the names of telecom companies, banks, betting sites or radio stations. They ask for a 'processing fee', airtime or your PIN to send the prize.

If you did not enter a competition, you did not win one.

How to check

  1. Ask yourself if you really entered the promotion.
  2. Look for the promotion on the company's official website or verified page.
  3. Never pay a fee or send airtime to claim a prize.
  4. Never share your PIN or a code sent to your phone.
  5. Block and report the number.

Frequently asked questions

They want only a small amount. Is that a risk?
Yes. The first small fee is followed by another, and the prize never comes.
