Veritaza

What does Veritaza check?

Veritaza runs seven checks for signs of fraud based on what you send it: photos, messages, number and email ID, fraud cases and FIRs, other checks of the same photos or number, name and username, and the ID card. The result is a report with seven green, yellow or red boxes.

Veritaza looks for warning signs. It cannot catch every scammer. When we find nothing, we say so plainly: no warning signs, which is a good sign, but it is not proof.

The seven checks

  1. The photos: the same image elsewhere on the internet.
  2. The messages: the same text copied elsewhere.
  3. Number and email: fraud lists, virtual numbers and the country.
  4. Fraud cases and FIRs: the name together with fraud, cheating or FIR in news, forums and warning sites, with the link so you can confirm whether it is the same person.
  5. Other checks: how many people have already checked the same photos or number, and how many said the person asked them for money.
  6. Name and username: together with "scam", "scammer" and "fraud" in news and forums.
  7. The ID card: signs of forgery on a PAN card, passport, driving licence or voter ID, and whether the PAN is a possible number. We never say an ID card is genuine, and we never take Aadhaar.
