How do I know if the account messaging me is a bot?

A bot or a scripted operator answers fast, does not really respond to what you wrote, repeats the same lines and steers every conversation towards a link, an app or a request. Ask something unexpected and specific: a script cannot answer, a person can.

Many scam accounts are not fully automatic; they are people in a "chat farm" working many conversations with a copy-pasted script. The effect is the same. The messages feel slightly off: too generic, too sweet, too quick, and your questions get ignored or answered with a stock line.

Signs and a test

  1. The first message arrives out of nowhere and is the same kind of line others report receiving.
  2. Replies come instantly at any hour and do not fit your last message.
  3. The person pushes early for a link, an app, a number or a move to another chat.
  4. Ask a question that needs a real answer: "What did you eat today?" or "What is the weather like where you are right now?"
  5. Copy a line of the chat and search it online. Veritaza's check 2 does this for you: copied scripts show up elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

The person has a real-sounding voice note. Can a bot do that?
Voice notes can be recorded or generated. Use the same test: ask for a voice note saying something specific you choose.
