I found the same photos under different names. What does that mean?
It means at least one account is using stolen photos, and the one that contacted you is very likely the fake. The real owner usually has the older account, with many more photos over time, tagged pictures from friends and a consistent life.
Scammers copy from public accounts, so the original is often easy to find: an influencer, a small business owner, a soldier, a nurse. The fake uses the same twenty photos, nothing else. Sometimes the same photos appear under five or ten names at once, each one a scam account.
What to do
- Compare the accounts: which one has history, tagged photos and comments from real friends?
- Do not confront the person yet; just stop sending anything.
- Save screenshots of both accounts and the chat.
- Report the fake account on the platform.
- If you already sent money, contact GCash or your bank and report the scam.
Frequently asked questions
- The person says the other account is the fake one. Could that be true?
- It is possible, but the person who contacted a stranger and asks for trust or money is the one you need to doubt. Ask for a live video call with a gesture you choose.
