Veritaza

How do I know if a profile photo was made by AI?

Look at the details: AI photos often have odd hands or fingers, mismatched earrings, blurred or melting background, text that is not readable, and a face that is centred and lit the same way in every picture. A reverse image search finds nothing because the person does not exist.

No single sign is conclusive and the tools improve every month. The practical answer is to ask for things AI cannot easily produce on demand: a live video call, a photo with a gesture or object you choose, a picture with a friend. Veritaza does not use face recognition and does not claim to detect AI photos; it looks for the same image elsewhere and for other warning signs.

What to look at

  1. Hands, fingers, teeth and ears – AI often gets them wrong.
  2. Earrings, glasses and necklaces that do not match on both sides.
  3. Backgrounds with melted shapes or unreadable writing.
  4. The same lighting and pose in every photo, and no photos with other people.
  5. Ask for a live video call or a photo with a gesture you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Can an app detect AI photos for me?
Some tools try, but they make mistakes both ways. Use them as a hint, and rely on the video call.
