I paid for a product that never arrived. What do I do?
Act in this order: call your bank and 1930 as soon as you realise it is a scam, save all evidence, file a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in, and report the seller on the platform. If the seller is a registered business that simply did not deliver, a consumer complaint is the next step.
The quicker you report, the better the chance that the money can be frozen in the receiving account. Keep the chat, the listing, the UPI transaction ID and the seller's number and username.
Step by step
- Message the seller once, with a deadline. If they go silent or block you, treat it as fraud.
- Call your bank and 1930, with the transaction ID, the UPI ID or account you paid, and the time.
- File a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in with screenshots of the listing, the chat and the payment.
- Report the seller's profile on the platform so others are warned.
- For a registered business that did not deliver, file a consumer complaint with the consumer forum.
Frequently asked questions
- Will I get my money back?
- Not always. The chance is best in the first hours, when the money is still in the account that received it.
