Veritaza

Is it safe to pay an advance to a seller on Instagram?

Only if you have checked the seller and can afford to lose the amount. Many Instagram "shops" are real, but a page that only takes full advance by UPI, has no address or phone, and shows only reposted photos is a risk. Prefer cash on delivery or paying inside a platform that offers buyer protection.

Signs of a fake shop: product photos copied from brand sites, comments turned off or all from new accounts, pressure to pay today for a "limited" offer, and a different UPI name from the shop name.

Before you pay

  1. Search the shop name with "scam", "fraud" and "not delivered".
  2. Ask for a video of the actual product with your name written on paper.
  3. Check how old the account is and whether real customers tag it in their own posts.
  4. Ask for cash on delivery, or pay a small token at most.
  5. Note the UPI name you are paying to – if it is a random person, be careful.

Frequently asked questions

The page has thousands of followers. Is that proof?
No. Followers can be bought. Real customer posts and reviews on other sites matter more.
