How do I do a reverse image search on my phone?
On your phone, open the Google app or Google Lens, tap the camera icon and choose the photo from your gallery, or take a screenshot of the profile and search that. Google then shows pages where the same or a very similar image appears.
Reverse image search is the quickest way to find a stolen profile photo. If the photo appears on another profile with a different name, on a modelling site or in a news article about someone else, the profile you are looking at is not that person.
Step by step
- Save the photo, or take a screenshot of the profile and crop it to just the picture.
- Open the Google app (or Chrome) and tap the camera / Lens icon in the search bar.
- Choose the picture from your gallery and let it search.
- Scroll through the results: look for the same face on other accounts, on stock-photo sites or in news.
- Try two or three different photos from the profile, not just one.
Frequently asked questions
- The search found nothing. Does that mean the photos are genuine?
- No. It means the photo is not indexed, is edited or was taken from a private account. It is a good sign, not proof.
- Does Veritaza do the same thing?
- Veritaza's check 1 looks for the same image elsewhere on the internet, and check 5 tells you whether other people have already checked the same photos. We do not use face recognition.
